Salut Anki,
A few weeks ago you mentioned cooking with endives and so I decided to try it out since the French seem to eat them here quite a bit. I made this recipe: http://www.marmiton.org/recettes/recette_endives-au-bacon-et-vin-blanc_82110.aspx and it was really tasty but I found that I could only eat one slice. It was still quite bitter after cooking the endives and I am not sure if it is a taste I can eat often. Did you end up making a dish with them? Love, Dianka
As much as I try to resist, I LOVE chocolate! At this time of year with the holidays coming up, mint and chocolate is the winning combination for me. With all desserts, however, I try to find a healthier version without sacrificing flavour. These nanaimo bars are made with a walnut, cocoa and coconut crust, a cashew, maple syrup, mint extract middle and a coconut oil, cocoa powder topping. For the green colour, instead of adding food colouring, I used matcha green tea powder. I can attest, they were delectable! All you need is a food processor.
Allo Dianka! Last week I made lasagna for the first time in years! I love the savoury flavours and the tomato / pasta / veggie combination. This recipe was different than any other that I've come across because it called for making marinara from scratch! To make the sauce, I put 14 tomatoes in my food processor then put them in a pot with herbs and spices and simmered for a good half hour. During this time, I steamed some broccoli and spinach for the veggie layers and shredded some good ol' cheddar! The marinara was delicious and I will never go back to the jarred kind, it's so easy to make!
Salut,
I realized that if I were stuck on an island and could only choose one meal to eat, I think I would choose a French baguette, with some cheese, butter, sausage and a tomato. I could eat that everyday! Now this of course, would only be lunch. :) What about you? Bis, Diana REPLY: Mmmmmm... that's a difficult one! I love baguette too, although I would add avocado and tomato slices to the cheese and sausage :) I think that for me it would have to be a savoury Indian dish, butter chicken with basmati rice or a curry dish. I find that my taste change all the time but that's what I'm craving today ..... curry! I may cook this for dinner. BiZ! Anna Coucou!
For Rob's birthday I took him to La Boussole restaurant on Rue Guisarde in the 7ieme arrondissement. The street was a wonderful discovery! Full of Christmas decor and lined with restaurants! It was not touristy at all, only French! Hura! I had fois gras de canard to begin which was not the best fois gras I've ever had, but it was still really good! Rob started off with deep fried camembert, it was really good! Next Rob had canard for dinner and I had shrimp linguine. Everything was very nice! Before eating we had red Porto to drink along with red wine. Actually, I bought a bottle of red to take to Normandy and it was SO good. It was called Chateau d'Uza, it is a Bordeaux from 2009. Here is the link to the restaurant if you want to check it out: http://www.la-boussole.com/ Ciao! Dianka Paryzanka If you can crack open the fridge and take out cabbage to crunch on...you must be Polish, that I am!!!! I love cabbage and I believe you do too! What's better I never had the right ingredients to make the Pot-au-feu yet, so I fried up carrots, LES POIREAUX, and cabbage! I added salt, pepper, plus a bit of piquant! It was delicious!! Ta ta for now! -Dianka P.S. Check out the picture I added under Nutella...ha ha
